Einstein explained it thus:
When a man sits with a pretty girl for an hour, it seems like a minute. But let him sit on a hot stove for a minute – and it’s longer than any hour. That’s relativity.’

It all depends on the psychology. When we're having fun , we enjoy it. We don't look into the clock very often. We a re actually shut off from the external stimulus, informing us of time, because we get engrossed in having fun
When, at work, we don't enjoy it. This results in the frequesnt glances at the clock, and a feeling that time is dragging. But, if we enjoy the work we do, time will appear to fly by.

It is the infamous Activity - Time Continuum. Heavy, boring activities such as work or study distort the Continuum and have a greater Chronological Attraction. As they suck in time from other, lighter and more enjoyable activites time becomes disdended when doing these activities.

Time is a relative thing in many ways. One of which is mentally relative. If you are doing something which you enjoy, you are focusing on what you're doing, not the time. If you are bored or focusing upon something you do not enjoy, more of your conscious mind is thinking about how long it is taking to perform the drudgery.

you do not pay attention to the concept of time while enjoying the enjoyable, you do however watch like an eagle if you want it to end or have to be elsewhere.
