the ball should unscrew.Might have to try it a few times and try in different direction as well if you think it is not undoing.

If you have had the ring for more then 6 or 7 months what I would suggest... lay down on your bed or the floor or wherever, take the little ball out of the ring (they usually pop out quite easily) put some rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and squeeze the cotton over the top of the ring before you take it out. The alcohol is just to help the ring slide out easier. On the other hand if you have had it less than 6 months go to the place you had it pierced and have them take it out.

If it's time to change it.....4 weeks after, or more.....then i know how hard it is to get it apart. I had to use a pair of needle nosed plyers to get mine apart. there are 2 ends inside of the little ball. One or the other will pop out with the right amount of tug. It can be painfull. If you have another person to help you it would be great, dont know if peircing place would help you or not. They may be too concerned about health liabilites to do it for you. I did mine on my own, but took a good amount of tugging and time to do it. and some pain.

The ball has two dents in it and the ends of the ring fit into the dents so you cant see them. If it is healed OK then just hold the ring and grip the ball with your thumb and forefinger then gently twist. It should come off OK then just slide the ring out.

The ball part should unscrew and then come off. Once you have done that you should be able to slide the bar out. Make sure it's clean and your hands are clean. Maybe doing it in the bath would be easier. Keep it cleaned until it has healed up.

I was also suggested by my piercer that if I found it difficult I could use baby oil or soap to make it easier, but what someone has said beofre is right, the ball has two dents in it and you need to pull to release it

I have to bend open mine a little with small tongs because it doesn't unscrew. I bend it just enough so I can take the ball out.
