Cheyenne is an active economic, cultural and political center for the northern plains and is the capital of the state of Wyoming.
The "Magic City of the Plains" with 6,062 feet elevation is located at the intersection of Interstates 25 and 80 in southeast Wyoming approximately 100 miles north of Denver, Colorado.
The City of Cheyenne which is native American nation and is composed of two united tribes, the Sotaeo'o and the Tsitsistas, which translates to "Like Hearted People", had its beginning in 1867, when the Union Pacific Railroad came through on its way to the west coast. The town site was first surveyed by General Grenville Dodge and was named for an Indian tribe that roamed the area (originally called ‘Shey’ an’ nah’, belonging to the tribe of Alogonquian, the largest family of Indians on the North American Continent). The name Cheyenne itself derives from a Sioux word meaning 'Little Cree'. Settlement came so fast that the nickname "Magic City of the Plains" was adopted.
On August 8, 1867, the first charter for the government of the City of Cheyenne was established and H. M. Cook was elected mayor. At the time, Cheyenne was situated in the Dakota Territory and had a population of approximately 600 people. On January 5, 1914, the commissioner form of government was formally adopted by the City of Cheyenne. Cheyenne was proclaimed to be "a City of the First Class" organized under the provisions of the State of Wyoming with all the powers and obligations thereto on July 9, 1945. Jack R. Spiker is currently the Mayor.♥

I had an annoying eleventh grade english instructor that gave us a sparkling map to fill in all the states and capitals, and he mentioned in case you acquire all of them, he'd replace a try score with a one hundred. He became attempting to instruct a factor that we are stupid. thankfully, i'm form of a dork, and used to look at maps constantly, so i nailed it. It became high-quality to wipe the smirk off of his face.
