I worked it out that you earn £430pm so you may have had to pay emergency tax ? which you will get back , but you must ask your boss if thats the case !! You would not normally pay a lot of tax probs £16 pm also National Insurance about £20 may be a little less?
You can ring the Inland Revenue

It depends upon your tax code but assuming that you are a single person you should have a tax code of 503L. This means that you can earn £5030 per year before paying tax. So at your £6.15 per hour at 3.5 hours per day, 5 days per week and assuming that you have 4.33 weeks per month on average then you're getting paid £5592 for a 52 week year. You therefore should be getting £562 taxable pay approximately taxed at the lowest rate. If you're paying national insurance then your total deductions should be less than £20 per month I guess. This means you should be getting more like £440 per month take home? Check your payslip and contact the Inland Revenue to check your tax code is right. If you aren't workig legally and paid cash in hand then you need to speak to your boss about it.

I worked out you get 5915 per year, so that should be 492 per month! To get be getting paid only 161 something is going well wrong.
You can expect to lose 1/3 to tax and NI, but you should still be getting 320 a month net.
Maybe you are on an emergency tax code, or you bosses have made other deductions?
Why not ask them, or get in touch with the tax office.

Did you give your employer a P45 or fill in a P46? If not you are being taxed emergency tax and that will take a hefty chunk of your money until the end of the financial year when the tax office knows how much you have been paid in that tax year. Do you not have a pay slip? By law your employer has to provide you with one to prove they are paying employers NI and tax. If you are not getting one then ask for one and if you dont get one then report your employer to the inland revenue. Good luck. p.s you can get a P46 form online.

6.15 times 3.5 times 5 is 107.625 per week.
So monthly pay is weekly amount times 52 divided by 12.
Monthly pay before deductions is 466.375
Deductions should be made for tax and National Insurance.
If you get a pay slip these amounts should be detailed.
I would have thought they would be about 20%, certainly less than £100.
If this is your first week at work, ask for details of deductions.
Good luck.

You might want to check your tax code.
If this is a new, or first, job for you you might be on an emergency tax code which will mean you pay more tax, but can claim it back at a later date.
I'd call your local tax office, they will need to know your projected gross earnings for the year from all jobs you have had this year, not jsut your current job..

You will need to start doing a bit of extra Skiving then.. make sure you take your break and go to the loo a few times etc.. that should waste at least an hour or so.. As an employer I must admit I try and pay part timers as little as I can get away with - and get them to do shitty menial jobs..And I encourage them to be paid in Ca££ - if you know what I mean. But as an Employee... when you think about it you are working for nothing basically..when you take into account travel, clothing , snack etc..I think you should re-asses your situation - You should & could be getting Benefits .speak to one of the money advisers ..***** By the thumbs down I am getting no one wants real "life" advice must be all Benefit Agency staff surfing this morning *****

Do not have enough info to tell you,but check your Gross pay prior to any tax withheld you should have 430.50
Then contact tax man for confirmation of amount that should be withheld based on age, marital status etc.
Subtract this amount plus any other employer deductions.Do you pay for meals, uniforms, etc. Also might want to check actual hours worked if this is by check! if cash payment then you need to make sure you are getting paid for all hours worked and a receipt for your pay would be nice in case you end up on the dole.

Hi
I would phone the tax office and see what your tax code is and ask them to help you work out what you should be paid. Is this your only job? How old are you and are you married or have a partner, all these help you work out your allowances. See:www.hmrc.gov.uk

You could be on emergency tax, so you need to call your tax office to check. The money will get paid back to you if you are.
