My rabbit used to be an indoors rabbit before I took him on. He now lives outside and over the last few days has got the sniffles and runny eyes. Before taking him to the vets does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make him feel better? He currently has hay in his hutch but I am going to change to straw as he eats alot of the hay. He has a curtain on the front of his cage and it is not in a wind trap of any sort

First suggestion it to bring your rabbit back inside as it is healhier for the bunny and you have the advantage of getting to know your rabbit.
Seconds, rabbits don't get colds, but it does sound as if your bunny is sick and that means a trip to a rabbit savvy vet. If you don't have a rabbit savvy vet, here is a link that might help:

Good that he is eating his hay...rabbits should have unlimited access to hay. Straw is fine for bedding, but not very nutrious. You might want to line his litter box with straw and then top with hay.

The site I listed has good information all aspects of rabbit care.

Give your rabbit some vitamins and electrolytes in it's water. They should have some for sale at the website below.

But if you really want your rabbit to get better, take it to the vet. Have the vet take a culture sample to find what strain of disease is actually causing the cold so the correct medication can be prescribed. He may want to prescribe some eye ointment for the eye also.

The vitamins and electrolytes will help the rabbit recover quicker but they will not cure the cold. The strain needs to be properly diagnosed to cure the cold. It's not a good idea to give a rabbit an antibiotic without knowing what strain is causing the problem. Also keep that rabbit away from any other rabbits you may have and wash your hands with wet wipes before touching any other rabbits you have. Colds can be easily spread from one rabbit to another.

take your rabbit to the vets immediatley! Rabbits should never have runny eyes or the sniffles. His teeth could have over grown and need filing down by the vets, or it could be something more serious! keep the hay, it's the best thing for them, it should be part of their main diet along with fresh water, pellets and some nice yummy veg, but NEVER lettuce! Get to the vets ASAP!

He should be kept as indoor rabbit. They can be litter box trained and if you are concerned with smell if you neuter or spay it really helps. Rabbits don't get colds. It sounds like it might have something called pastuerella. It needs to be treated with antibiotics and taken indoors to be made better. http://www.rabbit.org
