I don't know! You've got to shop around and really know people. I value child care but it is just ridiculous how much it costs. It is HARD. When my daughter was a toddler, I "worked to work." In other words, I made gas money, daycare money and could buy the diapers and food to leave at the daycare. I needed to work for education purposes, but that was just insane. I found a good friend who was willing to work with me at the time. Times have changed in my life now that I'm expecting my 2nd child but I'm still bewildered as to what to do about baby care.
I am in no way downing day care / child care providers, but I know of three who have gone from rags to riches as providers. Maybe, become a provider! You could watch your baby and rake in the money at the same time. I'm talking about buying houses in lovely neighborhoods, buying your Mom a house, hiring a full time staff type of rags to riches stories. Good for them, but er you may want to lower those prices. Also, the people I speak of were very qualified and received governmental subsidies because of some of their clientele.
As you can see, I can talk about this all day. I'll stop now.

Largely its because you live in a 'developing nation' where the people who look after your kids are professionals, qualified, registered etc.
I had my daughter in southern Africa. On the days that I worked there, I had a 'nanny' come to my home and give my baby exclusive one to one care for 9 hours. Here back in the UK , my daughter now goes to a nursery with at least 8 others in her class where she has 3 different adults looking after her at any one time (and they are rotated during the day).
It costs nearly 5 times as much for child care here in the UK than in southern Africa. Some women would be happy with that and would say that they are paying for the qualifications and professionalism of the nursery attendents/ childminders here. Me, i am not so bothered aboout qualifications or regulation, I would prefer someone who adored kids and had years of experience and love for them and who had pure common sense on their shoulders!
But unless the State really recognises the worth of working parents and the importance of bringing up kids, you will always pay more when living in 'The West' because of the whole competition and capitalism aspect.

It really annoys me,I have twins and there are no concessions at the nurseries here for that,so mega bucks for them both.
We worked it out that if I returned full time, 98% of my salary would be for child care.
Which i am really glad about in a way because I don't want to pay someone to look after my children,i want to do it myself.
But I am lucky,we can afford that just about,I know many others aren't that fortunate and I really feel for them.

That's because you're a good enough parent to give your child financial priority in your weekly budget! Even though you say there's hardly anything left over, you still don't skimp on their care!
Well done, I know the feeling.
Give yourself a pat on the back. There are a lot of parents who are selfish and consider their own vices more important than their kids.

They charge so much because they know that you have to have care for your child. It makes me sick. I watch kids during the day in my home and I discuss with the parent how much they can pay before settling on a weekly price.

... because they're worth it. Not only is child care expensive, but so is caring for an elderly relative. You make the choice. Either do it yourself, or pay the price. For most of my working life 80% of my take home pay has immediately gone to pay for care of others, for whom I am responsible. The choice is yours.

cause most childcare places aremoney making bussinesses!! so they need to charge parents enough money in childcare fee as poss to pay childcare workers, plus the additional cost of the centre. i.e wear and tear of the place and electricity and heating bill, ect!!

Because raising other people's kids is difficult so not everyone wants to do it. Therefore the people that are willing to can charge a premium price.
