Ther is either a really big mouse or a bat in my wall. I hear this freaky schreeching or something. I banged on teh floor with the mop handle and it really made some squeeky loud noises. UGH! Not a good time to not be able to sleep at night. WHAT is it and what do I do about it??????

Toss some bags of mouse and rat poison in the attic near the wall you're hearing the noise in. Most of this kind of rodent killer will dry up the body leaving little to no odor but usually it makes the critter go in search of water at which time it will leave your home and die elsewhere. It could be a squirrel and if it is you'll know it when you check out the attic and it looks like a bomb exploded. They're very destructive and hard to get rid of once they find their way in. Check overhangs, soffits, eave's and behind gutters for holes. A hole no bigger than a half dollar is all they need. Good luck!

Is it behind your fireplace? That happened to us about a month ago. We kept hearing the same kind of noises you are talking about. It was driving our dog insane, and she barked madly ever time she heard it. My husband and I tried frantically to isolate the noise so we could figure out a way to get it out. I couldn't sleep with the idea of it dying behind there. It would be extremely hot and what a terrible way to die! Not only that the smell would be unbearable if it did. We couldn't disassemble the fireplace enough to get to it. We were afraid we would have to call an exterminator and it would cost a lot of money to get the critter out. But we took out the box on the side of the fireplace where the gas pilot is. And finally we looked down and saw a squirrel! Then the trick of reaching down and getting it out (it was about 3 feet down) We were afraid to pick it up because it might bite and it was too far down for it to jump out in its exhausted condition. (it had been in there at least 24 hours). So we got the tongs from the fireplace kit and somehow manage to lift it out with those and take it outside by the tail in the tongs. Good luck with your critter adventure. I think the moral of this story is: Persistence pays off in the end.

call an envirnmental clean up agency. this could be a public health care problem (bat poop). and the service is usually free to the public for such a problem.
if you call and say 'i think i have a bat. can you get it?' they won't.
if you call and say ' i think i have bats in my walls. i've been sick for a month now. my neighbors are sick and have the same sounds in their walls , too. i don't want there to become a public problem with this. I'M AFRAID FOR MY LIFE. do bat bites kill?' they will be there today!
