At what point in a relationship should I begin to slowly involve my 5 year old son?

It is very important to me that my son enjoys a persons character. I know that I can't let my son choice for me, but it includes his future as well. How do you view this situation?

Good ques. michelle. my experience tells me that 5 year olds are much more intuative, open minded and way more resilient than parents often give them credit for. Trust your gut on this.. If you like a guy, then there is no reason to keep your son hidden, as a matter of fact, it will be good to see how they interact, and i don't have to tell you this, mommy, your son will let you know exactly how he feels about this guy. Kids are way smarter and honest than people think, right? Hope this helps. ....R

Your son should be introduced when you believe that you and this person has a good chance of having a future together because you don't want to tie your son feelings up with a man that you are not going to be with. BUT if you mean when you should let the guy know about your child,that should be the first words come out of your mouth. Those words should be I have a child and if you want me ,you have to except my child

I think you have to play it by ear. You have to get to know the person you are dating and evaluate whether you trust him enough to interact with your child. I know I am pretty good with kids...since I am one myself, but you have to be sure you know who you are dating.
