My eldest son is playing for the Notts Forest Academy on Saturday and has to be at the ground for 8.30am to get the coach and then be collected on return. We live about an hour and half away and don't fancy doing journey four times in one day!

I'm from Edinburgh but have friends who stay in Nottingham so l go down there quite often.
Nottingham castle is quite good with good views of the city, l've taken a tour in a bus before, visited an old windmill just outside Nottingham, drove to Newark which is a lovely old town or you could you go out for lunch and spend the whole day shopping (brilliant shopping centre) I've been to Skinny Summos (think that's spelt correctly!) which is a brilliant Japanesse resturant.

Go into the forest and look helpless you will soon meet a certain Robin Hood. He will show you around and possibly take you on adventures where you can steal from the rich and give to the poor, save prisoners who have been unjustly incarcerated and learn basic woodland survival skills. If you are a hottie he may even seduce you but beware of Marion she looks the jealous type.

Look at the cathedral, Sherwood Forrest or make a weekend of it and stay at Center Parcs and you have everything within walking distance.
