There was Pete Best (1960-1962) and Stuart Sutcliffe (1960-1961). These names are listed in wikipedia. But Sutcliffe is generally referred to as the fifth beatle.

No one really seems to know!

There has been talk of several different ones, as different times!

But the four real Beatles have never confirmed or denied that their was a fifth Beatle!

Open to interpretation. Pete Best was actually a Beatle officially, no question about it, just not after they hit it really really big. And Billy Preston does have a writing credit on Get Back.

I'd say the best answer is Pete Best, then Stuart Sutcliffe, then Billy Preston, then Eric Clapton, then Eddie Murphy.

Most people agree that the fifth Beatle was their producer George Martin.

It can only be Stuart Sutcliffe, as the Beatles were a five piece group when he was a member.

There is a theory that there are 2 Paul McCartneys - the real and fake. The real one quit and was replaced by an actor because he did not like the touring.
