As you know USA is very wide from East to West. The Sun has to cross this vast area so when sun sets in east coast of US the midland US and west coast of US is bright with sun light. So when it is say 6PM(Sun set time)in east coast (Newyork) it is bright light in midland and west coast (SanFransisco ,Losangelese etc.) we canot have 6pm as time in these cities because 6pm all office stop working and these places are still bright with sun light. Therefore these places go behind in time say -1hour in midland , -2 hours behind NYin mountain zone. -3 hours behind from East coast time in west coast etc. Alaska and Hawaii also has different time zone. There are seven time zones in USA.These time zones are must and called DST or Daylight saving time

do you mean time zones? the railroad started the idea of time zones.sun time differs in the same regions.makes it hard to leave and arrive at a specific time when nobody know the "real"time

TIME IS FIXED ON THE BASIS OF GREENWICH MERIDIAN LINE THIS IS AN IMAGINARY LINE PASSING THROUGH, GREENWICH. FROM GREENWICH THE WHOLE EARTH IS GRADED, AT 4.5 MTS., PER GRADE. TOWARDS WEST, IT WILL INCREASE AND TOWARDS EAST, IT WILL DECREASE. THE TIME OF A COUNTRY WILL BE DETERMINED BY ITS DISTANCE FROM GREENWICH, WHICH IS THE ZERO POINT.
