for the first one its 16.5 and 39. because (16.5*2)+((16.5*2)+6)=72 try it!
For number 2 the electrician spends 67.5 hours and the brick layer spends 22.5 hours. calculate it your self it euals 1350 all up
hope it helps

1.
You have 2 numbers that add up to 72.
So, let x be one of the numbers and y the other.
x + y = 72

But one of the numbers is 6 more than twice. So, I assume its...
2(x + 6) = y; If I understand that correctly.

x + 2x + 12 = 72

x + 2x + 12 - 12 = 72 - 12

x + 2x = 60

3x = 60

x = 60/3; x = 20

20 + y = 72

20 -20 + y = 72 - 20

y = 52

So, the numbers are 20 and 52. You can double check by adding 6 to 20 and doubling it. Which is 52.

2.
Lets take all the information and make an equation out of it.

A total of 90 hours of work has been done, which equals $1350
We have a bricklayer that's paid $12 per hour.
We have a electrician that's paid $16 per hour.

So, we have 2 variables. x being the number of hours the bricklayer worked and y being the number of hours the electrician worked.

So, we have.

12x + 16y = 1350

We also have another condition. Which is the total hours.

x + y = 90

So, lets get to one variable on one side of the equation.

x = 90 - y

Now we take a look at 12x + 16y = 1350

Lets subsititute x = 90 - y into the above equation.

12(90 - y) + 16y = 1350 In this we just subsitituted what x equalled. Next we multiple (90 - y) by 12.

1080 -12y + 16y = 1350

Now combine the terms.
4y = 270; And divide y = 270/4 or 67.5

To get x, we put y into the orinigal equation.
x + 67.5 = 90; x = 22.5

To double check this answer we just simple put the number of hours into this equation. 12x + 16y = 1350

12(22.5) + 16(67.5) = 1350

1. we named the first number as X and the second number as Y. we interpret that Y is six more than twice X. Thus,
Y = 2X+6
X + Y = 72
Equation using substitute:
X+Y = 72
X+(2X+6) =72
3X+6 = 72
3X = 72-6
3X = 66
X = 22
after find X we can calculate Y= 72-X
Y=72-22
Y=50
the two number is 22 and 50

2. assume X is the hours of bricklayer and Y is the hours of electrician. therefore,
X+Y = 90,
X = 90-Y
12X+16Y= 1350
12(90-Y)+16Y = 1350
1080-12Y+16Y =1350
4Y = 1350-1080
4Y = 270
Y=67.5
we find X using: X=90-67.5
X= 22.5
so, the bricklayer spends 22.5 hours and the electrician spends about 67.5 hours on the house..

1.

Let one of the numbers be x
The other number = 2x +6

2x + 6 + x = 72
3x + 6 = 72
3x = 72 - 6
3x = 66
x = 66 / 3 = 11

One of the numbers is 11 and the other 28.

2. Let x be the hours spent by the bricklayer
Let (90 - x) be hours spent by the electrician.

12x + 16(90-x) = 1350
12x + 1440 - 16x = 1350
1440 - 4x = 1350
4x = 90
x = 90 / 4 = 22.5

Time taken by bricklayer = 22.5 hrs
Time taken by electrician = 90 - 22.5 = 67.5 hrs

The bricklayer spends 22 hours and 50 minutes.
While the electrician spends 67 hours and 50 minutes.

let the numbers be a and b

a+b=72
a=2*b+6
a=2b+6
substituting the value of a in the first equation
2b+6+b=72
3b=66
b=22
a=50

2)

let the time spend by the bricklayer be 'a' hours
and the time spend by the electrician be 'b' hours
given
a+b=90
12a+16b=1350
from first equation
a=90-b
substituting
12(90-b)+16b=1350
1080-12b+16b=1350
1080+4b=1350
4b=270
b=67.5 hours
67 hours 30 minutes
a=90-b
=90-67.5
=22.5 hours
= 22hours 30 minutes

i'll help you on one and hope you get help on the other and all the usual comments about if you can't be bothered to help yourself you'll get screwed later on in life with a bad job and low income ;-)

one number is "x". the other is "y"

their sum is 72, so:
(1) x + y = 72

one number is 6 more than twice the other:
(2) x = 2*y + 6

so now you've got 2 equations, and 2 unknows. so you can solve

use (2), and plug it in (1):
(2*y + 6) + y = 72

3*y + 6 = 72

subtract 6 from both sides
3*y = 66

divide each side by 3
y = 22

use (2)
x = 2*y + 6 = 2*22 + 6 = 50

check:
(1) 50 + 22 = 72 ok
(2) twice y = 2*22 = 44, add 6, you get 50 ok

hope this helps

1. x+y=72, and x=2y+6. Write these equations as

x+y=72
x-2y=6

Subtract the second equation from the first:
3y=66, so y=22, and x=50

2. Let x be the time the bricklayer spends, and y be the time the electrician spends. Then you have

x+y=90
12x+16y=1350

Multiply the first equation by 12:
12x+12y=1080
12x+16y=1350
Subtract the first equation from the second:
4y=270
Then y=67.5, and x=22.5.

The trick is to transform the finished numbers into decimals first. subsequently a million turns into one hundred and we deduct 36 from that obtaining sixty 4. Then we replace the decimal. a million could be expressed as a million.00 we could desire to subtract 0.36 enable us to multiply the two words by utilising one hundred one hundred - 36 = sixty 4 we could desire to divide it by utilising one hundred to get lower back the end result 0.sixty 4 It seems complicated yet is definitely common in case you undergo in innovations the assumption and guidance.
