If you have a juicer you can juice up some apples, carrots and ginger. Ginger has a good effect when you have a cold, stops you being bunged up. Drink as much water as you can stand to drink. No alchohol or cigarettes, get as much sleep as you can. Try to think positive, if you believe you are ill you will be more ill. If your chest is wheezy then running a hot shower against the wall and breathing in the steam eases the chest. Also those menthol/eucalyptus plug ins are good for the bedroom or a few drops of karvol on your pillow. Simple paracetamol should rid you of aches and pains. For prevention some people swear by echinacea for strengthening the immune system.

You must loosen the mucus in your chest or risk a bronchial pneumonia. There is a new remedy over the counter at the pharmacy it is a mucus loosener and it works on many. Vicks Vapo rub, it smells but it works, rub it on your chest and back put on a warm top and a towel to hold on to the ointment so it remains on your chest go under the covers and sweat it out. Last but no least is a steam bath with Eucalytes oils and Rosemary Extract but you must not catch a draft it must be warm and dry when you go outside again.

SNAP,

I ate lots of fresh veg and fruit smoothies. I bought some of those Vitamin C sweets as well as cough medicine the works. None really had any long term effect to I resorted to very early nights and wrapped up warm in bed. That seemed to help and I felt a bit better each morning until it finally passed.

Good luck on the job front.
