I recalled specific things that had happened while I was under surgery a couple of times. I don't want to go into too much details really but kept dreaming for a few night after surgery about things that happened during surgery, I was apparrently 'remembering' things that only the the medical staff could have known. When I did ask the hospital staff about my surgery, they were surprised when I asked them did they do such and such.. they were rather gob-smacked I would say. It was terrifying too in the dream because I felt the procedures happening but didn't actually feel the pain. I still think about it.

I used to have a recurring dream as a child.
A little girl asks 2 men for something (the little girl isn't known to me or the men), the men simply say something then laugh. The men were sort of looking down on her.
I never understood what it meant but as a child I used to wake up screaming and I had that dream every now and then until it stopped at age 11/12.
It seems silly now looking at it when I've written it down but at the time I'm not sure what it was that made me scared to death.

Dreams are a mixture of real memories, things you can recall, combined with subconscious memories, things you do not recall but have have made some impact on your life.
This can be mixed with what you have seen on television, and your inermost fears.
The result can be a nightmare, everything combined.
When awake, we have control over our feelings and fears, but while assleep, the mix of all has full control over our brain, hence we sometimes have good dreams or bad, depending on our acctual physicle state when sleeping.

The great Sigmund Freud believed dreams were graphic expressions of our fears and fantasies. Perhaps you fear losing your boyfriend, or perhaps all the violence and suicide-terrorists have taken up residence in your subconscious.
Freud also believed it was healthy for the subconscious to express these fears in dreams, and many scientists and psychologists of today believe that dreams are a very healthy outlet.
In my own experience, it is best to forget dreams on waking and not to probe them for hidden meanings.
The philosopher-teacher Krishnamurti said;
"The unconscious is as trivial as the conscious...." which I take to mean that there is always a trail of flotsam, jetsam, unecessary detail and quite pointless information swimming around in our brain. It isn't all important and indeed we would probably go insane if there was not this stream of consciousness continually floating around up there keeping us balanced.

I dream of the end of the world a lot. It feels like sh*t when I wake up. Always the same feelings of no control over my life, and the feeling of just run out of time. Nuclear explosions, dark, fire tornado's, shaking grounds, rumbling, very annoying. Life always seems unreal when I wake up from those, followed by a depressing feeling that lingers for an hour or so..

I have had some pretty scary dreams/nighhtmares in the past and have woken up terrified.
However, dreams seem to be a way of looking at our fears & worries and dreams & hopes, so if you can think of them as being useful information, it really helps.
I think the reason they are terrifying (to me anyway) is that the language of dreams is quite shocking - destruction & death & loss can simply mean change, transformation & choices.
Have a look at the link - seems a reasonable interpretation ...
Good luck!

My worst nightmare was when I dreamt of being in a vast and dark underground cave. Water was knee-high, and some metallic creatures with long sharp nails were looking for me. I've been reading too much SF, I guess.
Your dream means that you subconsciously need some big and crucial event to change your life.

I have had very bad dreams before like houses burning down, people drowning etc, etc, etc. However your dreams just probably emphasise how much you like your boyfriend and how scared you are of losing him. There is absolutely no chance of your dream becoming reality though.
