I'm an adopted child. It happened 23 years ago and because my adoption was closed, I do not have access to any of my info. I would like to know about my medical history and at least my "story".

Yes, I feel the children should know about their parents.

I was adopted at the age of 1 but I maintained a relationship with my biological mother. Never got to know my biological father.

But in the end that is up to the parents decide when/if to tell their children about adoption. There are pros and cons to it, but I feel the best route and perhaps the more rocky route is to tell them, and preferably at a young age so they have more time to process the information.

So in short. Yes they should.

I think open adoption is best. Have you asked your parents about this? I think there are laws now that give you the right to know who your birth parents are. Even closed records can be opened. I know a couple of people who hired a professional to find their birth parents.

I think when a child is old enough to ask the questions and they are ready the courts should open the files to them. Many health problems and such could be treated if they know about them

I think it's up to the child. If you want to contact them you should be able to but if they haven't contacted you.....do you even know if they want to? Best of luck to you..

Yes I do, I think that is what is best. The whole truth and nothing but the truth.
