or is just a stupid way of saying we're better than you because we are not you... would the world be better off if there was no religion? isn't all this "religious" bull**** actually a way to satisfy the leaders' thirst for power? aren't we all just too blind to see that it's about the land and the resources and not some god or beliefs?

It depends on which leaders... I think Bush actually does believe God is on his side, as for the rest of them, it is more about securing oil interests and protecting the West from attacks by Islamic extremists- for whom it really IS about religion. I'm not sure if the world would be better off without religion. I personally think it's a intellectual cruch designed to provide answers where none readily exist, but if we abolish it we would need a replacement...

Though wars have been occurring in the middle east for centuries and will continues till the end of time, it's not about religion. It's about people using religion as an excuse to kill others. It is man that perverts gods word in order to further their agenda. If it wasn't about religion it would be something else. Please don;t blame God for the actions of evil people. I hope I haven't offended you?

sure its about oil, but i think 2 other reasons were the biggest driving force behind bush starting this war.

1st, when it started we went in n kicked @ss. this was shortly b4 the presidential election. it gave the illusion that bush was kickin @ss on terrorism (sadly, this actually worked. aint even gonna get into what it says about the avg american voter).

2nd, its about halliburton n the scamming of billions. if u think its not, u aint got a clue. n people not having a clue is why things aint ever gonna change.

well religeon starts as a personal thing and a way to have meaning in ur existance ... the line gets crossed when someone thinks they have found the correct way ... and since you have not then you need to be destroyed ... this is a human idea and im pretty sure that most religeons do not teach people to be the judge, jury, and executioner, although followers of many religeons decide that they are worthy of that ...

For the US, it is about oil, and a son avenging his father's administration.

For them, it is about religion. Fanatics typically follow religion in a fanatical way. They don't like us because we don't follow their religion. In the Middle East, religion governs much of their country's runnings.

It's been going on at least as long as Rome decided to embrace Christianity--a convenient tool to control the masses. Even the evangelicals are starting to realize they've been used by BushCo. to get elected.

If your premise is claiming that atheism brings peace, then I want to remind you that there have been atheists who have caused tremendous death and destruction: Stalin, Hitler, Mao Tse Tung, Pol Pot, Jeffrey Dahmer...to name just a few.
