My experience over the years with computers, HPs seem to be nice. Compaq, I would stay away from. I bought a Compaq Laptop and in the owner's manual it had FAQs and one of the FAQs was what is the cup holder for? Refering to the CD Rom Drive which was basically only good for holding a coffee cup. I currently use an e-machine, they are not too bad of computers if you are looking for something cheap. If you want custom built computer, I would suggest going to a computer shop and giving them the specifics, they will tell you what is best for you. Also depends on if what you want. I have heard AMD processors are good for games, and Pentium Processors are good for Working on ie Word, Spreadsheets, and other programs of that nature.

If you do some researching you'll find that building your own is the best way to get a very good computer and a very good price...
Anymore it's really easy to put them together...I never did it before and all it took me was about an hour to put all the stuff in the case and start it up!
You can spend $1000 and get a computer that you'd have to pay $4000 for already put together...all "name brand" computers use different suppliers to put their computers together...and you can do the same... :-)
Go look at Newegg, or Tigerdirect and you'll see what I mean on prices...

That is like asking which car is best. What is best for one person is totally useless for another.
You have to look at what you want to do with the computer. Simple word processing or business programs require very little computer to run. If you are into hard core gaming, then you will need the top of the line speed demon.

Dell is the best as far as price/performance. HP is good as well. As for the guy who doesn't like the Dell BIOS, how many average home users really need an extensive BIOS. As for MACs, I don't really know what to say, if you like them get them, if you like PC, don't be tempted by bootcamp, stick with your traditional PC.
PS: THANK YOU CHRIS, I thought I was the only one who was annoyed by her.

Try dell.com, they are usually priced ok for the quality.
Another tip is to do a search on yahoo or google or any other search engines you use for keywords such as "Customazible Computer" or anything else in that line of words. fully customazible computer, custom made computers, or visit intel.com.

Go to www.pcworld.com and look for Desktop or laptop reviews. You will get lots of information there. However, keep in mind that the best computer you need is based on what you want to do with it! got it?
