Many people recommend to not to go for internet Banking.

However, many Banks are strongly advising that it is more safe and less prone to hacking.

I have been using internet banking for few yrs, but no prblem encountered. From media, it appears that hackers can play. But considering the no. of users using it favourably, its advantages and no of reported hacking cases, we can continue to use internet banking. At the same time, we have to follow the security guidelines like changing passwords frequently etc.

Its as safe as any typ of banking... If your on a cordless phone there are ways to listen in on them... (my friend had a reciver that did that in his car and he once overheard a guy give his bank all his personal info) If you go to a bank in person you can be robbed... As long as you take precautions it's relative safe. Like never click on a link to get to your banks website, instead always use a bookmark or typ it in. Also most banks online are more secure then most online stores...

depends on your use.
if you use internet banking to just see the transactions then make your internet account read only(bank can do this).
in case you use it for transactions also then use a secure system. refrain from using public systems, in case you have to then log out and close the window and also delete the cookies and temporary files of the system.
