Dreamweaver or VisualBasic for web development?

Question

I have a website that is all .html right now. I want to make it more interactive and my webhost supports frontpage extensions, php, mysql, .asp extensions, so on so forth. I don't need flashy graphics or anything like that. Just the ability to have contol over the website and to able to setup automatic registration and things like that. Which is best and cheapest for these purposes. Dreamweaver, visualbasic, frontpage? and which version should i look for.

I have been using PHP, but it's going to take too long to learn everything. I'm looking for software to help do the coding for me.

Hi,

I believe VB.net offers the more professional option, but it is certainly not the cheapest. Also, note that there is a difference between .ASP, .net which is what most people are referring to when you ask about ASP nowadays.

Another reason you may want to consider PHP is because of the prevelance of php hosts, and they are often cheaper than similar windows based hosts. There will also be tons of examples using PHP to MySQL db. Most ASP examples will assume you are either going against access or MS SQL Server.

Although, I have recommended using PHP to this particular problem presented, I by far prefer ASP and spent years using it professionally. If you are looking at the big picture and are considering a career in web development, there may be some other items to consider.

VB offers greater control and flexibility than Dreamweaver, if you are not into flashy graphics. Dreamweaver is more to high-end graphics and other multimedia presentation.

However, if you want cheapest solution, you may want to consider PHP with MySQL as database. I have a PHP based website hosted with Yahoo! Geocities (paid services). It allows me to make database, access to that database, manipulate the date, etc.

Use Dreamweaver, i have used for a long time and its really simple to use yet it looks pro. Frontpage is good but its a little more complicated b/c it has so many options that you dont use unless you want to make a 1million dollar web site.

it depends up on what platform you are going to use as you said you
have complete html page you have no problems as html is plat form independent. But when you want o make your website dynamic

you have two options

asp+Ms sql server for windows platform

php +mysql server for linux platform offcourse you can use java script as it s plat form independent
