Mystique...Poison Ivy...Harley Quinn...who else? There aren't too many of them, and most only play second fiddle or consort to the evil big bossman. What gives? Why can't an evil woman be top dog and kick major hero butt?

Coz even fans don't like Evil Bitches,... They like bad girls and cruel women, but unfortuantely there isn't much in the way of good writers who can do a decent job of developing the chatacter for a really good - Bad Chick, as an arch nemisis for the various super duper good guys & gals.

Besides, it is exceptionally sexist, though its true that a lot of potential for female villians is rather limited to what they can do in the methods of super powers and tactics, most of the good stuff is already developed for existing super heroines and super bad babes.

Its ironic that the publishers will not extrapolate variations of super powers of current super heroine and fem villians, for new characters. Since there is the obvious need and market for such to make comics more appealing for the typical young reader.

Oh well, . . .

If you can develope a character give her powers and abilities, a psudo normal alter ego and a viable super villianess identity, as well as a few rough sketches, you could try to subit it to the editors of DC and Marvel, for their own evaluation and incorporating into their respective "universes".

It would be nice to see a few new faces to give the good guys a reason to "keep busy" and sell a few more issues, instead of rehashing on old storylines.

Good luck babe!!

Now if Witchblade, happened to go rouge, now that would be interesting, in either universes. I wonder what kind of gal, could she be. Because of the nature of the Witchblade, it could just as easily be a tool for E'vile!!

Its funny though when you consider, that if boys some how were to attracted to their comic heros, that they may perhaps grow up with the tendencies to be attracted to other boys and men. You would think that there would be more women and girls in comix to get them to think of girls and women. But nope, when you consider that Batman is never seen with a woman, but prefers to have his sidekick Robin always in hotpants and smooth shaved legs. Gets you to thinkin.

You forgot best of all Catwoman(comics and Michelle Pfieffer, Not Halle's sucktastic film)

As the majority of comics are aimed at young men, and those who used to be young men, the idea of stand alone female villains may be a bit off-putting to them.

Lets be honest, when most boys first start reading comics, they have yet to experience a lot of firsts involving females(make you own jokes here) by making a female villain, who while looking damn fine(a must for any comic female)kicks the hero's @$$ from here to there, it sends mixed messages. Also most boys are, or should be raised to believe that striking a woman is always bad, then what does it say when the hero they aspire to be is depicted fighting with a woman.

Doesn't Wonder Woman fight Cheetah, and Giganta, my only refernce for WW is teh old superfriends TV show though?

1. Comics are dominated by MALE writers and MALE artists.

2. Most of the main villians were created a long time ago, since they have all that history writers continue to use them.

3. Since the 90's more and more female villians are being invented. Don't believe me, just look at the Justice League Rogue Gallery. Most of the female villains are new and all thanks to Bruce Timm's success with Harley Quinn from Batman The Animated Adventure.

So sit tight, you'll see more female villains popping up, it just takes time. as they say, Rome wasn't built in a day.

It's a male-dominated, sexist market? *sighs* I honestly can't say...Maybe most male writers just don't have the creativity or incentive to cast women as being more than just boobs and booty. After all, the main demographic are male adolescents, and you can't risk turning them off or intimidating their fragile egos with a female character who's smart, intelligent, independent, AND gets the men to do her bidding, can you?

Meh. In any case, I'm hoping to someday get a few of my characters to DC, and the latest villain I've come up with is a major she-badass...till then.

Dark Phoenix, White Queen (Emma Frost), Black Queen (Selena), Black Widow (2 out of three of them), Cassandra Nova, Tera, Dr. Poison, Osira, Dr.Cyber, Cheetah, Giganta, those are just off the top of my head....

and many of the female villians have gone from second bannana to actual threats... so don't worry.

I think mainly boys read comic books more so than girls so they like to appeal to a male audience. She-Hulk was interesting, and Wonderwoman, Catwoman. Oh, and Aeon Flux.

Yes, we men like us want more female supervillains, to seduce more on our favorite male superheroes! Not on Superheroines though. I mean, come on! Batwoman a lesbian?? That's not right!
