Thanks for responding. I was expecting an answer like that .
Fact; If we keep on finding excuses for the wrong they do to others, they will keep on pushing for world control.
Executions take place in the Philipines, Saudi Arabia and others which we think are liberal. Not done by terrorists, but by law.
The man on the street which smile and tell you he is liberal, will not hesitate to kill you when he is in a Muslim country.
I can tell a few stories, 1st hand experience about how they want us to believe the hate is only from terrorists. Schools in Saudi Arabia teach children that Christians and Jews are pigs. It is also good to kill them if they don't agree with Muslim laws.
Yes, I believe everybody can live happily in harmony. We must just stop ignoring reality when when we don't know all the facts.
They must start to show us the same respect they want from us:
Freedom of speech and religion.

Hi there,
I would like to say that i am a Muslim but i do not have that mindset of a strict Muslim which practices this and that. I wouldn't say i'm modernised as i don't think going against religion signifies any sort of modernisation. However, I have my own set of beliefs and will stay true to it and these beliefs, most of them are against Islam. However, i would like to point out a few things about your question.

I hope you understand that the Quran, teaches its followers to be peaceful and respect others irregardless of their race or religion. On the contrast, humans have misinteprated the teachings of Islam. One good example is Osama. You see, Osama is not fighting for Islam. He fighting a political war. Its not a war against Jews or Christians. Its more like a war against Mr George Bush as he can't get along with him.

As for your reference to the teachers in Saudi Arabia, like i've said, Quran teaches its followers to be respect others however these teachers have misintreprated the teaches and thus passing on the wrong knowledge to the younger generation which in turn have a hatred for Jews and Christians. There is nothing we can do about the situation in that country but rest assured that students in a land called 'Singapore' are well educated about racial harmony. In Singapore, our Muslim schools teach students to respect one another as we live in a multi- racial society.

At the end of the day, Islam is a religion that does not instill hatred in others. In fact, we are tought to love the human race. Its the teachers who are passing on the wrong knowledge. We should do something about this.

Regards,
Wandi Juma'at

Religion is used as a means of social enforcement. Muslim countries have not developped the free thinking and human right the west has developped through the study of humanistic ancient greek philosophy. Thus, it is more a socio-cultural problem, and the governments use religion to keep things like that with a religious excuse. Of course, the fact that the Quran gives lifestyle instructions that were created in the 6th century for nomad tribes, is no help. Christianity had not such a big problem accepting progress because the teachings of Jesus were not about putting rules to our life, like dressing code or punishments, but purely spiritual. He acted in a society that had strict laws already, so there was no need to set rules, rather to correct cruel rules. Keep in mind though, that the church has often made rules of her own in order to fight other people or to torture and kill (something which is totally against Jesus). Anyway, I do think we should take the violation of human rights in muslim countries more seriously, which is exactly the opposite of what the US policy does: US allies with Saudi Arabia, who are different than the Taliban only in the fact that people are not poor, dying of hunger. The Taliban were rejected only after they had been armed by the US, to fight the Soviets - who by the way had created a non-muslim state in Afghanistan, and if it were not for the Taliban, now Afghanistan would be a former Soviet republic like Azerbaidjan, Tadjikistan or others, no terrorism, no women with burgha, no stonings, etc. The same with Saddam: he was acruel dictator, but at least he had not let muslim law take over and education was important in Iraq. If muslim people are educated and reject theocracy, their attitude can change, they can be like Turkey, muslims, but not living in the first millennium.

I agree with you100%,for a so called peaceful religion, family members kill the women if they are raped or try to escape the oppresion they are under. They cut of or threaten to cut off the heads of those who do not agree with their religion and if these are extemists then why dont the peaceful muslims start taking action against the extremists. Why are they silent?Because they approve of the savagery and the barbarism.Who else straps bombs on children to do the cowards work..,they make me sick.

You must understand something. Islam teaches that anyother belief other than their own religion deserve nothing but death and that it's their duty by the koran to do so. They teach that we are infidels and all infidels must either convert or die. And they do it all in the name of their god...not my God...the God I know does not condone that...two different gods but they want us all to believe that we serve the same god.
