Because the republican party is the closest we can get to the conservative beliefs. Smaller government, lower taxes, military support, homeland defense, etc. The democratic line on this is long and distinguished. Every time a modern day dem gets in office they propose tax increases, cutting the military budget. God only knows what the dems will propose for homeland defense if they every get control again.

And to respond to above poster: "Uh, whilst did McCain replace right into a conservative?" whilst he voted a hundred% with Bush in '07, ninety 5% Bush in '06, ninety% (lowest ever with conservative republicans) in '01. in fact he's replace into extra conservative each 365 days when you consider that he ran for president. He won't even sign costs he wrote in basic terms 2years in the past.

Holy cow...I was just curious on the response. Why does that not suprise me? Abortion and stem cell research are what drive these people to vote for a machine that is degrading America on just about every front.

People, these are religious issues, not issues of governance. Separation of church and state would go a long way to improving the crappy condition Bush and Co. have put us in.
