The Encarta Dictionary says: "of a pale bluish purple color". It would seem you and your husband are well matched. To me, periwinkle looks like a very true blue that someone dropped a bit of pink(composed of red + white) in. Any way you define it, when I create this color with pigments, I start with blue (a primary color that is composed of a single pigment) and add a bit of red (another primary color composed of a single pigment) , and finally, I add a touch of white. Red + blue=purple, so by the very definition, you are both quite literally correct!!

I would mix the same amount of blue into purple. Purple already is a mix of blue with red. But no two people experience color in the same way and often, use a different label. I have called something green, while my neighbor called the same object blue.
Eskimos have way too many names for the color of snow, but then, they have way too much snow.

Hi Little_Birdie, Well for starters, "Peri" is short for perinium. Which is the color...Purple! Then you have..."Winkle" which is "Latin for "Twinkle"....The color "Blue". Hope this explains everything? XOXO Moonpie
