that had characters which changed roles, and turns out to be a computer program. Not TRON. One of the guys escapes and finds the end of the program, a dark nothingness. Great movie by the way.

It could be The Thirteenth Floor featured a computer simulation of Los Angeles in the 1930's.

I thought you were talking about Thirteenth floor as well, although in that it ends with him (he was a program within the computer) escaping to the real world (or what could potentially be the real world) and not finding the nothing at the end of the world (that happens earlier on).

Dark City is similar yes (and Jennifer Connelly is gorgeous), Matrix similar even, there was also a twilight zone episode. If you have any more clues let me know, otherwise I would guess you mean Thirteenth floor.

I'm wanting to say Dark City, but I know that's incorrect. Totally see that flick anyway though lol. Other than that you stumped the band, sorry.

The 13th Floor, I fell asleep halway through, but your description sounds like how my boyfriend told me it ended. It was on terrestrial UK TV about a year ago too, if that helps...............
