Im to be married late next year. I have been married before, my fiance has not. When we begin our lives together, we will combine the sum total of two whole houses, and 30+ yrs of stuff under one roof. We dont NEED anything, really. However. My daughter (who will be 18 before we say "I DO"), wants to host a shower for me. Any ideas?

Thanks ladies! Great answers and they all prove one thing, lol ...great minds DO think alike!

We have opted for a spa party from two places: Bed, Bath & Beyond AND Bath N Body works. This way those who are out of town and cant attend can send gift cards and certificates. Those who are local can attend. We will be holding it at a day spa and the gifts, should anyone decide to bring one, can do so for my new home (and hot tub). Great ideas, thanks again!

Instead of calling it a shower, just call it a party. Or a tea or luncheon of whatever.

Maybe you could do a spa party.

You could also do a recipe shower, everyone just brings their favorite recipe and your daughter can get a nice cookbook with slip in sleeves. Or you could do a wine/liquor shower.

I like the idea of just having a luncheon instead of a shower.

If she insists on doing a party where people give you gifts, you could get gifts that people can use more of. Like foods (pasta, fancy tinned things, etc.) or DVDs to add to your collection, or board games.

Maybe she could do a themed shower. Something like recipies. And have every one thats invited bring some copies of their favorite recipies, and you could all make your own cook book. not only would it be a shower but everyone would have something to remember it by.

Just let her do it if she wants, you can always state no gifts just a celebration.
