Would this occur from front line exposure to combat ?
Were any of the recent mass murders war vets ?

It is genetic- humans- men mostly can be consumed by 'the now' and go and try to do anything they see fit at the time, and to hell with emotions . Weapons, guns or historically whatever- swords, pistols etc enhance the drive by enabling us to carry out our imagined purpose. Luckily, often, good education and good mentors- not to mention the law, keep us all from becoming savages.

Yes we are more blase... probably because of something called testosterone... i don't worry about death that much being a guy... you can't avoid it in the long run anyway... so no real point worrying about it as much... you'd probably find it'd also change with age... most young guys aren't too worried about what really happens to them... but once you have people to provide for you'd be more concerned... maybe... i almost forgot we are men :P

I don't think they are more blase, but definitely they are conditioned socially to act that way, myself included.

Not blase, but they are conditioned to keep their emotions to themselvs.

The answers are no, and this sounds like liberal thinking, to me.
