The noun revolutions per minute has one meaning:

Meaning #1: rate of revolution of a motor
Synonyms: rpm, rev

It is measured quantity of the output of a motor. See below.

You can see this displayed on your cars tachometer.

-----------------------------------
TORQUE and RPM are the MEASURED quantities of engine output. POWER is CALCULATED from torque and RPM, by the following equation.

HP (Horsepower) = Torque x RPM ÷ 5252

An engine produces POWER by applying a TORQUE on a rotating shaft (driveshaft).

A dynamometer measures torque and RPM, and from those two values calculates observed power. Then it applies various factors (air temperature, barometric pressure, relative humidity) in order to correct the observed power to the value it would have been if it had been measured at standard atmospheric conditions (corrected power).

A few basic definitions.
TORQUE is defined as a FORCE around a given point, applied at a RADIUS from that point.

Note that the unit of TORQUE is one pound-foot (often misstated), while the unit of WORK is one foot-pound.

POWER is the measure of how much WORK can be done in a specified TIME.

I know its a bit technical but it's correct.

Hope this helps!

Rpm means revolutions per minute. that means how many times per minute your engine cycles. most cars idle at between 600 and 850 rpm (depending on motor size) Rpm doesn't "do" anything. it is just a measurement term.I Hope that is what you meant.
