Shortened synopsis:
I dreamt I was living in my old apartment, and for some reason it was 4 stories tall. My friend Brian (he's not a really close friend, we hang out sometimes, he's okay) knocked on my door and asked if he can spend the night at my house, cause he had no where else to stay. I said sure, and set up a bed in my opening hall, of all places.

Then, I go upstairs to the 4th floor, and feel compelled to jump out the window. I jump, and about halfway down, I pull out my cell phone from my pocket, realize it's still plugged into it's charger which is plugged into an outlet in the wall, and I am hanging, with my cell phone in my hand. My cell phone had basically saved me from falling from my death. I then unplug my cell from my charger, and fall to the ground safely.

I then go back upstairs to the top floor, feel compelled to look out the window I had jumped from, and see my see my aforementioned friend Brian on the ground, dead from jumping/falling out the window.

Yeah.

I'll try to piece it together. If you dreamed about him sleeping over, you probably have some feelings for him somewhere in the back of your mind. However, you would prefer to keep those feelings at a distance.

Seeing him dead in your place might have meant that you feel some type of competition with him. OR, maybe you want him to save you, and it was really him that saved your life (not the cell phone).

Maybe the cell phone saving you (if it did) represents your need to talk with someone about something. Maybe you want to talk to him.

You're worried about your friend, but also worried about yourself. Since it was your cell phone that saved you, maybe you feel the need to call out for help--to talk to someone about your worries or pain. You might also worry that you won't be heard, or that you won't be able to find the courage to cry out in time.

The fact that the dream is set in your old apartment is important: think about important events, good or bad, that happened while you were living there. Did you feel safe there? Perhaps you feel safer and happier where you're living now. My nightmares are often set in places where I lived and felt unsafe or threatened.

When you look out the window, you see that your friend didn't escape death. Yet you had just escaped the exact same fate. Perhaps you worry that he won't be able to call out like you are/will be, or that in some way he lacks the strength to take care of himself--after all, in the dream, he didn't plug his cell phone into the wall. In the dream, you do, which is responsible. You have an apartment (also responsible). But he doesn't have a place to stay, and he sets up a bed in a hallway, which isn't a logical place to set up a bed if you want a good night's sleep! Since it's your opening hall, people could be coming in and out, walking over him (literally in the dream, figuratively in real life). Maybe you wonder if he depends on people too much, and doesn't take care of his own needs.

Obviously, there's no hard-and-fast interpretation of a dream. Just see how that fits with your life right now. Thanks for sharing the dream--it's always interesting to hear other people's dreams!

I think that you must feel that Brian values your friendship more than you value his. His knocking on your door and asking to stay is symbolic of how you feel that he imposes on you in your life. Maybe you feel that he expects too much from you. It could be that he expects too much from you emotionally, or that he always calls you when he needs something. Maybe you even suspect that he has romantic feeling for you. Either way, you may feel that your friendship is less deep than he does. I'm wondering if the reason you are in your old apartment is because you became friends when you lived there, or if your friendship changed when you lived there. The reason you put him in the hallway might be because you do not want to open yourself up to him too much. This may also be why you find him dead on the ground. He needs you so much, that he jumped out the window because you did.

Maybe the reason you decide to jump out the window is because you want to distance yourself from him, or something that he represents. The cell phone could be significant because maybe you feel that you really rely on your cell phone in your life. It could be symbolic of the fact that friends and family are really important to you, and the cell phone keeps you connected to them. It could also be that you feel the phone is the only way in which you are really connected to Brian. These are just some of my thoughts. What do I know anyway. I'm a lawyer not a psychologist!

You are obviously worried about this friend brian and you feel that he is somehow reaching out to you for help(why else would he be knocking on your door) maybe you feel you are only connected to the world by your cell phone but you long to have a more personal relationship because you feel isolated up there on the fourth floor alone.

Dreaming of a building, represents the self and the body. How high you are in the building indicates a rising level of understanding or awareness. The lower levels of the building, refers to more primal attitudes and/or sexuality. Dreaming of a building in ruins or damaged indicates that your approach toward a situation or relationship is all wrong. You need to change. Your own self-image may have suffered and taken some blow. Dreaming that you or someone fall off a building, suggests that you are descending into the realm of unconscious. You are learning about and acknowledging aspects of your unconscious.

Seeing your friends in your dream means aspects of your personality that you have rejected, but are ready to integrate these rejected part of yourself. The relationships you have with those around you are important in learning about yourself. Dreaming that your friend is dying, suggests that some aspect or quality that your best friend possess is dying within your own self.

Seeing or using a cell phone in your dream indicates that you are being receptive to new information. It also represents your mobility.

You let someone down and you are feeling quilty about it. You first in your dream...took them in and took care of them....then you punished yourself...then he was dead too.

You feel quilty for giving someone advice that turned out to cause more damage than good.

Remember what you are directly dreaming about is not what your dreams are exactly about. You have to use the highlighted meanings to figure it out.

Left Hanging, Death, Helping out someone, punshing yourself, Fourth Floor

Fourth Floor would represent trying to push yourself far away from the problem so you don't have to deal with it.

But you must..Confront who you failed and ask for forgiveness from them so you can have inner peace.l
