No way they sweep. Carpenter pitches Cards to win tonight, Cards return to St. Louis and win 2 out of 3. That brings it back to Carpenter in game 6.
Cards in 6.

The Mets were a little rusty last night, yet still won. The Cardinals will not beat the Mets, neither will the Tigers or the A's.
Pay attention to this.....
Jeff Weaver pitched a great game last night, but only made one mistake. That mistake bounced off the scoreboard, halfway up. I have been watching the Tigers playoff games, the Tiger pitchers are pretty good, but make more than one mistake an inning, the Mets will make them pay for those mistakes. The Tigers, make that every other team in the major leagues, don't have a hitter as good as Albert Pujols, how did he do last night?
The only team that can beat the Mets, is the Mets. The games will be played, but I am very confidant that the Mets will not lose more than 2 games from here on out.
Edit: If you think that the Mets only pitcher is Glavine, and that the Mets will only win games he pitches, you are only fooling yourself. John Maine (3.60 ERA 1.13 WHIP) has been solid for the Mets since coming up. Steve Traschel has been effective, and has been better against the Cardinals than any other team except the Giants. Put it into perspective, Carpenter's ERA is 3.09 and his WHIP is 1.07, not that much better than Maine's numbers. The Cardinals were in the weakest division in baseball this year, deflating his stats.

The Tigers.
At first I thought the Mets had too much power for anyone including the Tigers. Now I have my reservations. The Tigers are looking awesome and the Mets are beginning to stumble and stagger with the Cardinals. Even with the 12-5 blowout last night it is a tie series and the Cardinals are giving them a run for their money. Detroit however have shown no weakness in the Post season and they will be the 2006 World Series Champions.

The Mets did play a beautiful game last night and Glavine-"Big Game Tommy" (as Willie called him) did it once again. Carlos Beltran, of course, with his sixth inning bomb (along with the other fine plays made by Endy Chavez, Paul LoDuca, Jose Valentin, David Wright and Carlos Delgado). But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves since the Mets still have quite a journey to go through. And, I have enough confidence in the other Mets pitcher such as John Maine and Steve Trachsel. I believe they'll carry out their task well and bring the Mets to the world series (not forgetting the awesome relief pitchers and outstanding offense and defense). Finally, Mets fans always have reasons to shout Let's Go Mets no matter what. Willie for President? :)

Love the conceitedness against the Mets and we, their followers. The Mets are the excellent team that continues to be interior the playoff hunt, even without Pedro, who has been out for quite it sluggish, and Hernandez, who become a late season %.-up. The Mets have eaten alive all of the communities who have been meant to conquer them. shop putting faith in gamers like wood worker, Suppan and Todd Jones and spot how far it takes you. What approximately Jay Paton and Marco Scuttero, Mets solid offs. Get into any of those communities bullpens and watch them fold. Whoever pronounced Billy Wagner hasn't performed properly interior the 2d 0.5 is nuts, he's been quite reliable on condition that mid-might. The Mets are seventy 9 and four whilst optimum after 6 innings, and characteristic the main come from at the back of wins interior the Majors. The Mets earned their place as favorites, in case you do no longer think of so which you're deluding your self. in case you haven't any longer any concern of the Mets, then the two you understand no longer something approximately baseball, or you're in dreamland. specific Cujo, I genuinely have seen the Mets pitching. have you ever? I look to undergo in ideas the lower back 0.5 of the rotation handleing the Yankees triumphing 2 in a three pastime sequence. to no longer point out the Mets beating Rivera, Izzy, and Hoffmann all in save circumstances. reliable pitching beats reliable hitting, notwithstanding it takes super pitching to conquer super hitting. there is not any longer lots super pitching, or perhaps reliable hitting (to boot a participant or 2 on the different 3 communities) final for the Mets to stand. Mets over enjoying cards in 5, over the Tigers or A's in 5

IF the Mets can get past the Cards, they'll be playing the Tigers in the World Series. I predict the Tigers will win in 5. Pitching always beats hitting, and the Tigers have the best pitching staff in baseball... and the best Manager! Jim Leyland for President!

I'm rooting for the Met. Yet the starting pitching has to click. Maine and Traschel need big wins in the next two games. Glavine goes in game 5, if there's one, however, he may be tired out on three days rest.

Detroit are going to steam roll over Oakland and the Mets hasn't had any competition in the NL all year so they dont surprise me but it will be interesting to see the great piching of the Tigers against the Mets remember what they did to the other NY team with great hitting.

I picked the Mets to win the WS before the year began...(over the Rangers...I dunno????) but I wont lie I questioned it when they lost pitcher after pitcher...I hope they destroy the Cards but I think they win in 6. Looks like the Tigers will win the AL even though I would never count out the A's with that pitching staff.
Mets over Cards in 6
Mets over Tigers in 7
MVP of WS - Carlos Beltran.......
