Kennedy- JFK despite some personal characteristics was a great man. He was a man of stature, he not only was a great president he defended his country and people vigoursley. He also served in a war and was instrumental in swimming from one island to the next in the harsh sea to save his troops.

John F Kenney was a man of vision and tried to take care of America's problems such as poverty. He aided Martin Luther King in civil and equal rights.

Kennedy is my choice as the best President ever of the United States.

I often wonder what America would be like today had he lived.

I also don't think if Kennedy was President that they would of dared attacked in 9/11. Kennedy would of responded quickley and he would of made sure that he had all the facts and evidence. He would of went in the right country.

These modern Presidents don't have the heart or integrity that JFK and Bobby had.

JFK made us proud to be American. It has been downhill ever since he died. I think Americans are looking for that old glory of being Proud.

Franklin D. Roosevelt. He truly united a country regardless of political preference. He also fought the greatest war of all time. He got America out of the depression by instituting programs that got America's confidence back. He managed to rally support of Americans to believe in themselves and their country without alienating the rest of the world (he did ally himself with Stalin during the war).
This administration could learn alot from him. He didn't start a war, he just ended it. He didn't accuse previous administrations of the country's problems, he just fixed them. He didn't care about the way people lived their personal lives, just as long as it did not violate the rights of other Americans. He also did not provide amnesty to illegal immigrants, instead he allowed them to visit places like Ellis Island and gain citizenship the right way.
The only thing he did that I do not agree with was becoming President past two terms. It was not illegal then, but it was not what American presidents did. After he died, then it became law. I fear that this is the only thing that this administration will try to emulate. At least Roosevelt was actually elected.

My vote for the best would be J.F.Kennedy. He chose very tough diplomacy against the Russians during the Cuban Missile Crisis and he prevailed. He also believed in the "Truman Doctrine" of containing the communists so they could not expand their sphere of influence, but not confronting them directly by military force. He was opposed to committing U.S. ground forces in Vietnam, only military equipment and military advisors. The military escalation was under L.B.Johnson after Kennedy's death . Bush should have learned the lessons of the failed military policy of committing troops in Vietnam, and by not trying to defuse the Iraq threat of weapons of mass destruction through diplomatic means that apparently were beginning to WORK against Saddam. (i.e. sanctions, and the embargo) Those were the lessons NOT learned by Mr. Bush, and they will haunt his presidency. His legacy will be in and of itself a lesson for future presidents of what NOT to do.
