I think that a top RB or WR should run a 4.4 or faster or maybe a 4.5 at most. Of course every player is different. The 40-time isn't the only factor, and frequently, the very best backs don't even attend the combine, so there may not be an official time for the top guys. But usually an RB with a time of 4.6 or higher is not considered to be top tier. Check out the following article at NFL.com, especially the fifth paragraph: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/7095858

No u don't run a 4.48 40 @ 15 most college and nfl players don't run 4.4 anything so wake up. By you just asking if 4.48 is fast anyone with sense knows you made that up. If you did put up that kind of time all your high school coaches in track/football would be talking to you and you would probably be the fastest kid in your school regardless of grade which means you would know you were extremely fast or as we say in the track world rolling.

I would say around 4.5 to 4.6, 4.45 is a reasonably quick time for a running back

Wide receivers 4.35, running backs 4.45, me 4.90. That's why I'm a fan and not a player.

Id say 4.55. 4.4 is a quick shifty back where as 4.6 is prob. a big bruising slower back...
