A fat mouse crawled in the exhaust pipe of my Subaru Forester. We tried poking around in the pipe with a hanger to see if we could feel it, but it seems to have crawled deep inside. The car was on, so I am sure the mouse has now died of asfixiation. Now what? Will this hurt the car? Do we need to remove it or will it burn up and disappear? If it needs to come out what is the best way of getting it out?

The holes in the baffles deep inside the muffler are too small for a mouse to get passed it. All the sensors are on the other side with the catalytic converter. The heat,(hundred of degrees) will dry it out and sort of cremate the creature. Don't worry about it, he'll trouble you no more.

Call a Mechanic and see what you can do to get the mouse out safely. Try not to hurt the mouse Please.

Hope This helps.

As long as the car is running it will dry up the carcus and blow it out...no worries....it the car isn't running then it has clog the pipe stopping the flow of exhaust....just wait a day or two and it will rot enough to blow it out...not a big deal

No. But once lost my keys. Was able to start the car using some one else's keys with same model. (v old mgb gt - worn keys & lock etc.) Had to put my foot over the exhaust when I got home!

Assuming the mouse isn't dead, it can only go so far in, like the muffler. my bet is he is dead or crawled out due to the heat from the exhaust. seems like nothing to worry about.
beware of cat's hanging around your tailpipe :)

No, I doubt it will effect the car. Eventually it will be splashed out. I actually think the mouse may have already come out.

ummm..... interesting yet sort of funny aswell. The mouse may have gotten out(maybe) but all i can suggest is to take off your exhaust and hope for the best.

Go for a drive on the freeway.

Toasted mouse. It should bake and blow out.

he's gonna cook. no problem. nothing but ashes left. if u see no difference in performance now then u most likely won't. forget it. maybe come up with a good nickname for your car, and drive on.
