I want to know if an online game such as Battlefield, which is available for both ps2 and xbox, play on the same server; eg can a player using a ps2 play against someone using an xbox???

No is not possible since the PS2 version is running on EA server. The Xbox 360 version it running on Microsoft laggy crappy server.

Not possible yet. Ps2 has the crappiest server and online gameplay there is! Xbox 360 online playing is great. In a few months xbox live players will be able to play with pc players in certain games. Thats going to great.

XBOX players will be able to play against other XBOX users. So with PS2.

Yes it is possible ONLY IF Microsoft and SONY go into a deal. But there is hardly any chance that these two archrivals would do such contract.

I'ma say no, mainly because each system uses a unique type of file, and until those become universal it'll be like putting a square peg in a round hole.

Each system is different thereby requiring different servers.

you wouldn't be able to do that, also, the controls are quite different so if you could it might not be fair
