So far for me the toughest mathimatics has being measure theory.

It is for all intents and purposes useless in real life but it is basically proving that everything else that we regularly do in mathematics (like addition or integration) is infact justified.

For usefull classes the toughest I ever say was stocastic calculus which is basically asking the question how do you take the derivative of a random variable. think about it for a bit and it'll twist you mind. Now consider systems of r.v. which are dependent stocastically only. It's used in stock market stuff but also in information theory, advanced physics and many others

if your talking in University undergaduate, Real analysis or topography are the highest most pure forms of mathemats (no numbers anywhere.

I guess the mathematics of elliptic curves is one of the highest levels of mathematics one could complete, but it's not necessarily the most difficult mathematics. This paved the way for the successful proof (in the 1990s) of the three-century-old Fermat's Last Theorem. Andrew Wiles was the one who was able to prove this theorem as a corollary to proving the semistable case of the Taniyama-Shimura Conjecture, which says that all elliptic curves over the field of rationals are modular. Just trying to read the first few pages of Wiles' proof is sure to give any amateur a headache.

Take and complete a PhD in maths (any field) as it means that one must discover, test and prove a completely new principle in mathematics, which has a useful implementation in everyday life.
That is hard!

The most difficult math that is actually taught ? I will cast my vote for the area of Statistics called Time Series, it is the math of predicting the future and guessing the past

I did a brief stint with Quantum Mechanics. As long as you can prove harmonic oscillation you should be OK

Counting to Inifity :p... So many different math branches that are so incredibly hard. There isn't really a most difficult math but a whole bunch of complex thing where you have to come up with your own formulas for everything.
