I own a mobile home and the front half of it the electric works fine, the back half the lights are very dim, or not working. I tried reseting the circuit breakers but that did not work. If any one can please give me info.

Ok the Situation has gotten worse. Now the whole back of my trailer is without power, the front has it. Some made a suggestion that it was a Fuse at my meter. Do meters have fuses? and if so can you buy them at a local hardware store?

Try resetting the breakers in the box right next tothe meter box. Sometimes those breakers need to be reset or even pushed back in fully, especially if the power company has done some recent work. Also, check the plug socket there for a loose connection. Hope this helps

You may have wiring that has a poor connection. Either the wiring was not connected properly and has become lose over time, or with time there could be oxidation taking place in the connection (especially if you have aluminum wiring).

First you need to turn off the electricity at the circuit breakers. Then start removing (one at a time) the plate covers to the electrical plugs and light switches and pull out the plugs and switches. Then disconnect the wires and scratch the surface of the exposed bare wire and reconnect the wires back together with a proper size electrical Wire Nut. Finish each outlet completely before gong to the next one.

I have had this problem in a building that was poorly constructed. I found poor connections that had created enough heat to cause the plastic cover of the Wire Nut to melt away.

You may have a dangerous condition that needs to be fixed. If you don’t know how to fix this problem have someone show you (it’s easy). If not get someone that knows how to do electrical work.

The dim lights suggest a bad ground.

If you have appliances on that part of home it could damage the motors.
ONe cause might be a mouse chewed into wiring or built a nest someplace that is causing current to stray. You really should get an electrician there to look at it before damage occurs, or worse a fire.

I had mice chew up wiring behind the wall in one room of my house and it is a wonder the wires didn't short out and start a fire. Mice are really bad in the fall when temperatures drop.

The problem may not be mouse related, that was just a guess based on my experience. The dim lights do suggest a bad connection somewhere and those CAN overheat.

Wish you luck.

99% of the time dim lights are caused because of a loose neutral (white) wire. Resetting breaker will not do any good as the neutral is not connected to a breaker. Turn off power to unit and then check neutral connections in breaker panel. Kill power first!!!!!!!

Depending on how old the home is can be very important. Some models were wired with aluminum wire.(very bad) if that is the case. It can cause fires if the grounding is poor. If you really don't know what you are doing have a pro take a look.
