I don't think its unethical. It might be if he GAVE it to you. But since you didn't have a personal relationship with the guy and some schmoo is willing to pay that much, I would sell the thing if I were you.

Well, obviously you are profiting off his death because why else did the price go up? But you didn't know him personally, and he didn't give you the card himself, so I don't see the big deal. I would do the same if I had one. There is a baseball signed by Cory Lidel that is selling for now going for over $300.

The thing is though, I did some research and there are TONS of Cory Lidle baseball cards now on Ebay. I mean ... TONS. There is so many they all seem to be going for no more than 4 bucks.

No. If your in the business to buy and sell by means to collect or make money then strike while the irons hot. SELL! SELL! Trust me I'm in the business and I sell on eBay and honestly I wouldn't give you a nickel for one of his cards and he played for my home town team here a couple of years ogo the (Cincinnati Reds) and even started our opening day. People are wanting him now just because of the latest tragedy just to have one of his cards. But when it dies down and no pun intended the value will also go back down to hardly nothing. So if theres a market for him now sell. I might keep one card if you have a few just for keep sake. Good Luck!

You have to have your own code of morals/ethics.

If you can sell it without any question....go ahead.

People buy paintings so they can make a profit when the artist dies.

No it isn't. Sell it quick before the value drops in a couple days.
