I'm going on a trip, so I want something really engaging for my loooong flight. I need something that'll make time really pass quickly. It can be about anything except, I'm honestly not really that into sci-fi, so that's the only category I'd exclude. Thanks!

Try "Dangerous Angels" by Francesca Lia Block. It's about a family that mixes fantasy and real life so fluidly you can't tell what's a metaphor and what is really there. It's a good read without plot-stress. A good plane trip book. It got me to New Orleans and back.

Kurt Vonnegut Jr.'s works smell of sci-fi, but they're really stories about lost people. "Welcome to the Monkey House", "God Bless you Mr. RoseWater".
Are maybe the Art Of War? "Tao Te Ching" ?
It all depends on what you like. Taste cannot be argued says I.

I loved all Dan Browns' the last one: 'Digital Fortress', is unfortunately not the best. My favourite was 'Angels and Demons' and of course 'Da Vinci Code'.
