Teenagers today live in a I want society. I want the coolest clothes,I want the fastest car. I want the latest phone ,IPOD I want the hottest boyfriend. etc etc etc.
Its all about.I want! I want! I want!
Now the real problem is many just don't want to go out an earn a dollar to pay for this stuff. They expect everything to be handed to them on a silver platter. That's the just one of the problems with teenagers these days . I could go on but I'd get writers cramp.

They were better at helping out around the house back then and didn't expect pay for what they did like they do now.Kids todays expect allowances for doing half the work that kids did 100 years ago.I think they were more respectful towards their parents back then and respected all sorts of authorities. But teenagers today are more technically advanced that their teen counterparts a century ago and that is what I would say are the differences,at least some.

lets not focus here with the negativity of the teen agers of todays time
as i can compare it in the most positive way,..
i can say that the teen agers now a days are very knowledgable than b4,. coz during huckleberry time, they use to play all the time and just help with house hold chores thats the only thing that they can do while teenagers today are already helping with finances and also improvicing or developing stuffs

In that time period, teenage-hood was much different. A girl was considered marriageable age when she started her monthlies. This could be as early as 12. Most children only attend school until the 6th grade. Then they were considered old enough to marry and start families. Teens usually worked in whatever type of business their family was in, If your Dad was a storekeeper, you worked in the store, if your Dad was a farmer, you would work on a farm. Usually by the time they were15 years old, they were starting their families.

Well a major difference is they weren't fat. They had more responsibility at a younger age. They didn't bathe as often. education limited. I live in Texas and the resturant (formerly a general store) we ate at tonight is a landmark. The man that built it was a Texas ranger by the age of 17. He was involved in one of the last camanche battles near his hometown of Round Top. The battle was in Johnson city Home of President Johnson

well to days teens are more violent.. most teens don't have the benefit of being raised in a good home like back in the .. women (some have more than one child) are having children with loser men who walk out.. mom has to work 2 jobs...no discipline teens get caught up in drugs, bad crowds, real trouble with the law not just i hit a baseball through the neighbors window trouble .. in the end all we can say is "it was a mistake"...

I have no scientific studies to base my thoughts on. But here goes anyway!
Teenagers are teenagers are teenagers! Each of us who have reached adulthood was a teenager. And we survived.
I think each generation has its own challenges which are understood partly by the generation before...but not completely. "Being" a teenager doesn't change, but the external environment does. Different music, different ethics, and more.
But to answer your question, I don't think teenagers are different, they just have different issues to deal with, generation by generation.

The values change, the jargon changes, but teenagers remain unchanged through time. They are rude and mischievous. They are constantly testing the rules and doing things to get attention.

First off.......classy chris....youre funny. You described teens of every generation! LOL David is right.......only the pressures that they have to deal with have changed. Kids have had to grow up a bit faster than we did in say the 70's and 80's.
