If you are lower class, you don't really pay that much in taxes anyway compared to the rest of society. I laugh when I see kids and students rant and rave about taxes when they don't even pay that much. Wait and see when you have a decent paying job. I bet you will think differently about taxes.

I bet most people can't even tell me what tax bracket they are in.

Some poor people do not even pay taxes and poor people really pay taxes. It is the rich and the employed people that pay taxes. The poor rant over the payment of taxes because they want to guarantee the welfare benefits that they receive from the government.

The lower class doesn't pay as much INcome tax. But they still pay taxes on food, clothing, vehicles (if they can afford one) and many other things. While they do enjoy the services that everyone else does, they often do not have enough money to eat properly or to take care of themselves properly. And the money that taxes "eat" is part of that. I know. I was a working poor mother once.

My father worked in a factory and was making about 30K a year when he retired in 1985. On that, he was supporting a wife and 3 kids, trying to save to send his kids to college. Every dollar he paid in taxes was a serious issue to our family. An additional $20 a week in tax was one less decent meal, one less trip, one less new shirt or pair of pants.

Dad was not stupid, he was very smart. But he didn't get to finish high school because he had to work to support his family during the Depression. He was not lazy, either, he worked hard. He got his GED eventually, but it was too late to start a new career.

I made it through college on his hard work and my own. I have a six-figure income. I have three kids of my own. And I don't mind the taxes I pay, because I know that somewhere out there is another father who wants the best for his kids and is just barely getting by. If my taxes make his life a little easier, then I don't mind paying them.

People with seven and eight-figure incomes who complain about their taxes make me very angry. What's another $20 to them? Or 200, or 2,000?

Did you know that as recently as 1981, the top income tax bracket was 70%? Sort of puts today's 35% in perspective, doesn't it?

Man, you talk like those poor people aren't even humans.

You probably think that they should not have the right to exist.

I bet you feel like you've really contributed to society when you toss a few bones around.

I remember when Reagan wanted to tax everybody's Social Security checks.

He actually wanted to tax a tax.

This is what the Republicans are made of.

The rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer.

Instead of desiring to steal the mouth out of poor children's mouths you should "Ask not, what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country."

Learn to follow the teachings of Christ and quit being a crybaby because you are asked to help the poor.

Now, get over yourself!

See your American duty and do it.

I have a decent paying job and about a third of everything to support this stupid illegal war and paint the white house! Students are in debt! In fact it is unconstitutional to tax the working mans wages and it is not the law that he must pay them. Taxes are supposed to be for corporations. The IRS is not even part of the government it is a privately owned organization!

When the top 1% of taxpayers are contributing 37% of the revenue, and the bottom 50% are contributing approx. 4%, it kind of makes you wonder what they are complaining about. Class envy outweighs their desire to ensure the rights of all are preserved and protected.

Constantly complaining about the rich not paying their fair share and getting tax cuts on the backs of the middle and lower classes is ludicrous. People in those groups hardly pay any taxes (or get credits) as it is. Tax receipts are soaring. What is their problem?

They rant because as a percentage of their income, they pay a higher amount than the middle class and upper class, especially when one considers the sales tax, vehicle license fees, and other fees government charges. Many of the taxes are regressive in nature. As to your second question, I am in the middle bracket.

Better yet, why do rich people complain when they have to pay taxes? You would not think that rich people would mind paying taxes since they have so much money. But then, I guess they would rather be rich and pay more in taxes than be poor and pay less.

They are poor because they continually make the wrong decisions. They are complaining about not getting enough money back from the taxes they never had to pay. Tax refunds are for the people who actually paid taxes. The others are receiving welfare handouts.

The top 50% of earners pay 96.54% of income taxes. The top 1% pay 34.27% of income taxes.

You are right. Its the middle class that is getting hosed with Bush's tax policies. Do you know how much your estate has to be worth before you pay the estate tax?
