OK, seriously. I know it's gross, but I think there is a dead animal in the wall and we're having a party tomorrow. It's not as overpowering as I remember it, and I'm suprised that there aren't a lot of flies like I remember happening when I was a kid. But it sure smells like a rat! Could something else cause that smell? My house is on a slab. It has an attic, and I saw droppings up there, but I didn't see or smell anything up there. I smell it near our front door, but only inside the house. Any ideas or suggestions?

Ideally, you want to remove the animal from the wall. But for a quick fix for your party, just burn lots of incense. It will help create ambience at your party, too.

We used to live in an apartment building and our neighbor downstairs had a dead mouse in her ceiling, our floor. The only thing we could do,other then have maintenance rip up both our apartments, was put an air freshener where the smell was, and you could not smell it,as bad. And in about 2 weeks the smell was gone. Hopefully your guests will have some sort of allergies upon arriving. LOL ,SORRY :(

i worked at a crappy business once that was a wooden building on a raised platform and animals would die underneath it all the time and the owner would call the city and some guy would show up and spray something under the house and this would completely eliminate the odor.

Maybe the dead animal is in the vents and you could hire a Duct Cleaner to suck out any and all crap that's in the duct work. just an idea.

sounds like its in the wall. its only going to get worse. leaving it there is a health hazard(but something tells me you don't care)

the smell will only be around the area the animal is dead at. only way to get to it is-sniffing for it then breaking open the wall

enjoy your party.
