There's a chance for them, yes. I do agree with some others in saying that losing Bonzi Wells was a big loss. He was incredible in the playoffs last year even though they lost to the Spurs. They do have Ron Artest, and he seems settled now. They use to call him the T.O. of basketball or vice-versa but now he barely makes a headline, which is a good thing. The only thing I would want to know from him is how he is improving, and did he have a good game or not. (Indiana could have been so much better, kind of like how the Philadephia Eagles could have been... anyway... just food for thought) Mike Bibby is obviously going to be the point guard for a long time. Brad Miller is a decent center. I honestly can't think of the other players because they did a huge player overhaul since the days of Webber, Divac, Stojakovic... But I believe that they have a chance.

Considering about half the NBA teams make at least the first round of the playoffs I'm pretty sure the Kings will make it.
The problem is, so will the Clippers, Suns, Lakers, Mavs, Spurs, Timberwolves, Rockets and Grizzlies. The West is simply too tough with too much talent for the Kings to advance past the first round.

Thanks for this question! I am a Sacramento Kings fan and I watched the game tonight against Dallas. I was really impressed with the new coach. The way the Kings played tonight and it was only the first pre-season game for them. They are a different the team this year with the new coach and the team seems to be more energetic and more out to win. Yes, I do think the Kings will make it to the playoffs.

I see the Kings competing for the championship. Losing Bonzi hurts, but they've added some quality players. Kevin Martin is ready to start as the two guard (he'll start in front of Salmons). Mike Bibby wants an extension, so he's lost 15 lbs. and promises to try to play defense this year. Quincy Douby is a nice scorer, added in the draft. They got some nice size in picking up Maurice Taylor and Loren Woods. They're pretty solid up front with Artest, Miller, and Abdur-Rahim/ Thomas. They'll need to gel with a new coach who stresses defense, but it's a long season. The west is a tough road again this year, but I don't see anybody as deep, which will come in handy if the injuries hit (which they always seem to).

It's very hard to say because the West gets stronger every year. They are in a tough division and was fourth behind both L.A teams and Phoenix teams. If they do they will be in the bottom three positions in the playoffs but things look good with Bibby. Artest, and Miller leading the way.
