What should I do, if my father refuses to talk to me b/c of an assumption he has? Then to make things worse,he knew I was having surgery for cervial cancer in a few weeks but still avoided me...Keep in mind, that I have tried to reach out but have not gotten a reply..what should I do??? My father and I were very close but when he was not there for me with my surgery, it made me question his love fo his oldest daughter (me). :(

IM SORRY FOR WHAT YOU ARE GOING THOUGH WITH
YOUR DAD. JUST CONTINUE TO REACH OUT TO HIM
I SURE HE LOVE YOU AND IS WORRY ABOUT YOUR HEALTH. BUT WHAT EVERY IS GOING ON. JUST KEEP
LET HIM KNOW THAT YOU LOVE HIM AND WANT HIM IN
YOUR LIFE. THAT ALL YOU CAN DO. GOOD LUCK TO
YOU.

It would have been helpful if you included in your question exactly what the assumption was.
Maybe he found it too painful to be around you when you were having surgery.
However, he should be talking to you. As your father, he must have some major issue with you to not wanna talk to you. Why don't you confront him about this assumption you assume he has, and get everything out in the open. even if it leads to a fight. A fight is better than no communication whatsoever, and at least it will have the potential for reconciliation.

I know it's hard but if he doesn't want to talk to you...don't talk to him. He loves you. He probably loves the attention he is getting from you trying to reach him. People are very weird. They want attention in the worst of ways. After a while, he'll realize what he's lost and call you.

This happened with my grandfather and my dad. My dad felt bad for a long time and tried calling him but was constantly avoided. He stopped calling. Six months later (I know that's a long time) he received a call from my grandfather. This was ten years ago and there hasn't been an episode since.

Best of Luck!

Unless we know something about the assumption, it is hard to say what will help ameliorate the situation...details?
