A lot of people don't think about it, but soap scum and build up happen easily in your washer. Run the machine on normal cycle in hot water and add a little vinegar. It will clean your machine really well.

Use a quart if white vinegar and run it with a tub of water. After that use only half the amount of soap the manufacture recommends. Half is plenty. Stand there and watch sometime.
You have plenty of suds with just half the amount and you'll avoid buildup in the future. Soap manufactures are in business to sell soap so of course they want us to use more. If a bottle says it's enough for 35 loads, I get double that.

Buy one gallon of distilled vinegar and fill your washing machine with hot water. Pour in the gallon of vinegar. Let the washing machine run the full cycle but without a wash in it! This will clean the built up residue left by washing powders and minerals in hard water areas, Do this about every six months or at least once a year.

Take a soapy sos pad and some "elbow grease" and get after it. A can of comet and the use of a small paint brush works great also in many areas. I do this a couple times a year or when ever needed.
