In the second book, Dumbeldore told Harry that Voldemort put some of his soul into Harry. Does that mean that as long as Harry is alive, Voldemort can never stay dead? What do you think and why?

As much as I don't like it, I think it is totally possible that J.K. Rowling might kill off Harry. If you remember the article, she said that there is a good side to killing off your main character. When she is dead and gone, no one will be able to come back and write Harry because he already died; it would be satisfactory to know that no one will come back and take over you masterpiece.

Here is a list of people besides Harry that I think might perish.

Ron: Besides being Harry's best mate, we haven't really seen him prove himself in times of danger and battle. He showed his strengths back in Book 1 when during the giant chess match during the hunt for the Philosopher's Stone. There is a theory that Ron will sacrifice himself for Harry in the final match against Voldemort.

Pettigrew: Do I have to explain it? Let's see... He betrayed the Potters, he helped Voldemort get his body back, and is an all-around bad guy. I think it's time to go, and that the life-debt that he has to Harry will be involved somehow.

Draco: I think that apart from being "bad", Draco is really a tragic character. His family are Death Eaters. He's got a lot to live up to. I got the kind of feeling that he was forced in the Book 6 to serve Voldemort. All the stress he underwent, the frustration, the anxiety... I mean, the poor boy was misguided. Remember that he is only about 17. People can make horrible mistakes when they are at that age. Unfortunately in Draco's case, it might cost him his life. He's in too deep.

Professor Trelawney: I think there is a possibility of her death in Book 7. She's always predicting how people will die, and seeing strange, dark omens everywhere. I think that is a kind of subtle foreshadowing. She sees death everywhere, why can't it be hers? I just wonder how this would play out, and how important it would be to the actual plot.

Percy: Hmm... Anyone sure which side he is really on?

Who will get a reprieve? (JKR said in a very recent interview that she gave a certain character a reprieve from dying) I have an inkling that it is one of the Dursleys.... or Snape.

I don't think Harry will die, but since Dumbledore died in the 6th, I have a bad feeling someone close to Harry will die in the 7th. But I think Voldemort will die with out killing Harry, because it is also said by Dumbledore that as long as there are Horcruxes around, Voldemort is a fraction of a piece alive. In other words, destroy the horcruxes, destroy Voldemort.

This is a fiction you can assume and you can give an end of the story whatever you want. I dont think so that fans of the harry potter will like the idea that he will die for forever and the story stops. May be he will die and there will be some kind of miracle happens and he will live again because of some Fairy, Magician, Bugs, Souls, etc. help him to live again. May be he see himself die in his dream and then he will try to search why the heck he was died in his dream? Who tried to kill him? Was it revenge? Who the enemy is? Among the Friends? See from this ideas you can write whole new book on Harry Potter. So be calm and just wait for the book.

This question saddens me. I do think that Harry and Voldemort will both die, and exactly for the reason that you said. Not only that but if Harry lives I dont think that any fan would be satisfied that there would be no more books. Personally I dont want him to die, I want another seven books or more with him in it.

I know about the prophecy, Harry's scar, and that being the possibility that Harry is the horcrux, but I still do not think Harry will die.
I think Neville and Voldemort will die, and hopefully, Harry will live, but there is nothing I can do. It is up to Rowling, and she knows best. She has never denied it, and put out there that she was seriously thinking about it.

Can't wait!

I absolutly love harry, and i am ashamed to say this but i am really sure that he will die. JKR said in an interview that she really doesn't want anyone to continue the series after she is dead and gone. She is an absolute genius look back at the books after you know what occulmoncy (sp) is. do you think that snape doesn't read harrys mind at all during his time at hogwarts. and everytime dumbledore has seen harry do you think he hasn't read his mind. I think Snape is good, and Dumbledore is going to come back in some way. But i do belive that harry will die somehow, but I think he will kill HE WHO MUST NOT BE NAMED first and then die like in an accident of some sort. Long live harry potter.

If you absolutly love harry potter like me check out this harry potter role playing site, and become another student at hogwarts.

Harry will not die that is for sure Why???, let me explain the prophecy says that he and Voldemort will fight and only one will remain, you cannot believe the bad guy is the winner at the end, after all is a children's book it has to teach a lesson.

I think that both Harry & Voldemort will die. I just wonder what big secret will be revealed about Snape! You know there has to be a very good reason why Dumbledore trusted him, and I can't wait to find out what it is!!!

I don't think that Harry Potter will be killed in Book 7. J.K. Rowling has written the series as a battle of good versus evil. I believe that she will show that good will triumph in the end. Harry has suffered a great deal of loss, pain, and pressure in her books. She has said that she will tell us what happens with the characters that survive. I think that will include Harry, who will get to enjoy a happy life after winning the final battle with Voldemort.

Dumbledore *didn't* say that Voldemort put some of his soul into Harry. This is the actual quote from Book 2:
[Dumbledore] "Unless I'm much mistaken, he transferred some of his own powers to you the night he gave you that scar. Not something he intended to do, I'm sure..."
"Voldemort put a bit of himself in me?" Harry said, thunderstruck. [Dumbledore] "It certainly seems so."
All that quote means is that Harry got some of Voldemort's powers with the curse scar. That doesn't mean he has a bit of his _soul_ inside of him. Once all of Voldemort's Horcruxes are destroyed it will be possible to finally kill him. And I think his remaining Horcruxes are objects that belonged to the founders of Hogwarts.

The prophesy was carefully worded to say that "one cannot live while the other survives." I think that refers to the fact that both Harry and Voldemort survived the Avada Kedavra that was meant to kill Harry as a child and that they will both attempt to kill the other until one of them is killed. I think this means that Harry won't truly be able to truly live (enjoy life) until Voldemort is vanquished.

It's a possibility but the main death has to be Voldemort's first. Good will have to triumph over evil in the end, but that may come at a heavy price.
I think Neville still has a part to play in the final battle and that Ron or Hermione are just as likely to die as Harry.

We'll just have to wait and see.......
