The BMW M3 is an amazing machine, combing luxury, speed, handling, ride, comfort, basiclaly everything in one sexy package. I think BMWs beat out benz, lexus, infinity, and acura any day.

Since I left the city - I've needed wheels. My husband always loved his cars - and I've driven some mighty wonderful ones.
However, I owned a Mercedes 300E - that I loved, but after it was 10 years old the maintenance was getting very expensive. I was offered a fantastic deal on a Jaguar S-Type. That car was beautiful - I felt so elegant everytime I stepped into it...however, I would never recommend one as a daily driver. It needs too much time at the mechanics. I sold it to someone who really loved my car this July and bought for the first time a BMW.
It's a 2003 in Steel Blue Metallic. Like the others it's a 4-door with sunroof. (I'm practical, what can else can I say?) I LOVE THIS CAR. It handles so well, it is very responsive and I can enjoy it for traveling. It's made me enjoy being a driver again. (Oh, it's a 330.) The other thing, I bought it used from a dealer and it came with the extended warrantee. I upgraded that for the extended labor and parts (they do the oil changes, brake pads, rotors, etc.) and I don't have to pay for any maintenance for it until January 2009.
So what do I think of BMW? I LOVE IT.
Oh, and Chris Bangle isn't so bad either...
P.S. The brakes on my 330 seem to be more responsive than my Mercedes 300E or the Porsche 993 or Boxster... but they are all good German brakes... (Let's not talk about the Jaguar "touring" brakes...)
P.P.S. I must throw in the gas mileage. I'm using 89 Octane and get 31mpg on highways and 27mgp on our local streets... I just can't say enough good things.
Meanwhile, I am an owner, and I feel many of the comments that would be given are opinions from non-owners. And there are many differences between the opinions of those that own and those that don't.
Wait - go take one out for a test drive. BMW does a program in the USA where you drive miles for money they will donate to research for breast cancer.
Also - don't forget to check out the national club for BMWs... they are good folk - and helpful.

the 535 is the best model you can get. rich snobs like the 7 or 8 series however, when you break it down scientifically- the first number is the series or body style and the last 2 numbers are the engine size- so a 535 and a 735 have the same engine but the 535 is lighter and has better performance. an 850 has a 5.0 engine but the 3.5 engine is enough with the 5 series body style...
BMW's also have the best brakes- usually broke people who cannot afford them try to claim them as being pretentious and try to use other German cars as a comparison- is a ford focus in the same class as a Cadillac- I don't think so
if your BMW is more than 5 years old, it is time to upgrade- or buy yourself an Audi a Saab or a C class Benz and pretend you have a BMW- my fav are the poor fools who buy a Chrysler and think they have a Benz

I personally don't fit the stereotypical BMW owner type, I'm not a yuppie, don't care about status, and am not rich. I own an old Vette, and build and maintain my own cars. I've been a mechanic for 40+ years, and have owned or driven just about every muscle car built, but I bought a used 323i a few months ago and love the little beast. Mine is a basic car without all the bells and whistles, just the way I would have ordered it new.

Youre buying a status symbol they handle great though but its funny to pass em broke down on the highway. If you want the dirt on a beemer go visit bmw's repair shop then go to Lexus.

An over rated vehicle, a VW is better engineered, costs a lot less (especially when it comes to repairs) and will last longer if properly maintained. They are more of a status symbol vehicle therefore are typically owned by the "i own the road" type of driver.
