I never saw either live, so I'd like to change things up and say from who I've seen play. It would have to be Fabio Cannavaro. He's defended the world's greatest strikers for ten years, and as far as I've seen only Inzaghi (Milan) has gotten a "good" goal while being marked by Cannavaro. Perhaps what Beckenbauer may have been like, I can only guess. But I'm sure either Pele, Cruyff, Maradona or Best were the most brilliant. I wish I was older...

Zinedine Zidane.His lazy flicks are awesome.He is also a gentleman.He is loyal to his national team.He came out of retirment wen France was perfomin badly in the WC 2006 qualifiers abs almost siglehandedly lead them to the finals.He won France its World Cup in 1998 and Euro CUp 2000.He is a True man and a great human.

How about Johan Cruijff! He is one of the best footballers of all time, he was so technical and skillful, it is amazing how much insight he has into the game, Pele was just an extremely good striker, but Cruijff was smart and skillful, and he pulled F.C. Barcelona into the Golden Age to get the beautiful stadium Camp Nou.

Lato or Boniek by far. They were the best during the 70s and 80s. Lato also got the golden ball at the 1974 WC.
