Is there any way to go from 1/2" copper pipe to 1/2" PVC and CPVC without having to sweat the fitting?
I am replumbing my kitchen and I need to go from the existing 1/2" hot and cold water pipes which are copper to a down run made of pvc and cpvc.I need to know how to fit the copper to the plastic without sweatting a fitting to the copper. Are there pressure fittings for copper pipe like there is for tubing?

If you are not going to be sweating copper pipe (which I highly recommend), then just go off of the shut-off valves under the sink. If you are doing a total re-plumb of the lines, then 'sweat' in copper pipe. It's not that hard.

I own a Construction Co and have seen this issue several times with copper. If you do nothing you will no doubt be repairing it again - not to mention high water bills, water damage to wood and other things. You may use CPVC which is rated for both hot and cold water. You may also use PVC which is rated only for cold water - or your both (required for Commercial). Id bit the bullet and replace all the copper. Remember 3/4" mainline split down to 1/2" for each fixture which will usally go down to 3/8". This way more than likely you wont have any water pressure issues. Wrong size line can cause variances

As far as PVC goes, I know they sell a copper-to-PVC adaptor. We use them
all the time for lawn sprinkler applications. And I'm sure of the same for
CPVC. Cpvc requires a special cement - orange colored I think. Anyway, you may need to go to a plumbing supply house to fix yourself up. For sure, they would have all the parts you would need and would probably know more
than the guys at HD or Lowes.

Check your local plumbing supply . ( Shark bite by cash acme ) Theres a coupling that connects copper , pex and pvc . You just push in the end of pipe and it locks . I don't recall the name of the manufacturer . I just used one today and they are great . It works like a chinese finger lock . No leaks !!! No glue or primer . Just don't use these on heat lines , hot water lines are fine .

Yes, I've used them and they work really well. The ones I used were made by Genova they have a website you can look up just what you need. Also they need NO tools to install. Neat huh!

My daddy said you are not smart changing to plastic. you would be better off improving on the copper.
