Literature that each generation will read over and over whether in school, or in their own time. Classic literature is written in a way the capture the mind of the reader and sends them a message, even if the reader doesn't realize what the lesson is.

Classic literature is designated to those books remembered in years, decades, and more, plus been admired around the world by critics and the people.

Your question's classic, it's not easy to define a classic literature. In my opinion, it's what some exceptional literary men/women of letters've contributed in meaningful words/texts to mankind to last till the end of time. One more thing, it's definitely the treasure of the world, not for those reading a particular language.

the books apply to today just as well as they applied to the time they were written (not true for all classic literature)
