Alright.....I've been playin bass bout 4 years now.....know alot of songs......but it is limited to learn song that have a decent bass line....I've learned songs from Primus, Rancid, Metallica, Tool, RHCP, Does anyone else have any suggestions on sum songs???

you should practice scales, just go to your local music store and get a book there on scale.. they will really help you out and you can incorporate them in songs.

Better than songs would be to learn some music theory so that you might have an idea of how a good bass line fits into the chords that are being played. I recommend learning some blues, and eventually jazz, because the improvised walking bass line is one of the great challenges of the instrument. Work on improvising and soloing, and work on playing by ear.

Those are a few of my favorites to play, very strong bass in all of those songs.

check out some r&b, late 60s on. lots of movin walkin riffin & often the bass is the featured instrument. also try some progressive rock- cream, yes, king crimson. and remember, you dont have to copy- create & have fun!

I don't play bass, but I always thought "Amazing Grace" played by YES' bassist is really cool.

YOU should NEVER limit your songs or your genr'e. You will never be anything more than a midiocre player if you do!
