Since I am older than most answering this. The fact of the matter is. Most Candy bars in 1981 were 25 cents. In the early 70's they were a dime.

I distinctly remember giving 59 cents for a Hershey Bar when I was 6 y/o (in 1981). (I remember this because it took more than half of my allowance, and I wanted a bottle of Big Red, which was also 59 cents and the lady in the store gave me both for 1.00)

Don't remember, but in 1951 they were a nickel and they were a whole lot bigger. Some of the huge candy bars were 15¢ and you could hardly finish one of them. A pack of gum was also a nickel, and you could get a package with two cupcakes in it for a nickel.
Pop was also a nickel for a 12 ounce bottle.
But the average working man earned $50 a week then.

In 1981 ten cents would buy you a candy bar, or five pieces of bubble gum.

25 cents for a regular candy bar
50 cents for a big block candy bar

I grew up on these in that era.

Oh my, I think they were somewhere between .35 cents and .50 cents, but by then I had pretty much outgrown candy bars. (except Payday. I still love those). I believe they were about .35 cents.

It depends on which country are you talking of, I think. I would say it should be cheaper for it's mother country (the place produced) whereas it will be more expensive in other countries regardless of currency. This is due to import taxes charged by other countries!

But 1 thing for sure, it's much mroe expensive now, no?
